Computer-to-Plate Primer
Richard M. Adams and Frank J. Romano
This book provides an introduction to CTP and covers its essential concepts, intended for a general reader who would like to understand the current technology.
Computer-to-plate (CTP) technology is a plate-imaging process whereby printing plates are imaged directly from digital files, eliminating the need for photographic film. This new technology can mean a savings of thousands of dollars for printers in that there is a reduction in the amount of supplies (film, chemicals, adhesives) and personnel (strippers, processors) that are needed.
CTP uses less equipment (film processing equipment, maintenance) and takes up less floor space than traditional methods. Proponents of CTP claim it offers better consistency and quality, lessens production time, and improves workflow.
